The Ordinary Skincare: Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C

Okay, so everyone and their dogs have heard of The Ordinary skin care by now. And a lot have probably even tried it by now. But if you haven't heard of it yet or tried it yet, or are simply wondering what some other people's opinions about it are, you have come to the right place.

If you haven't heard of The Ordinary yet, it is a skin care brand (now with makeup too) that is sold at prices that are even lower than drug store prices! Some of the reasons that it is so cheap is because if you notice the ingredients list on the packaging, there are very few. Only the ingredients that are needed. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I have heard other people's opinions too. One Youtuber mentioned that one of the reasons it's so cheap is because of the generic packaging. I agree. However, I have to disagree with that Youtuber on  that making it an unattractive product. I think if I'm getting quality product, I don't really care what type of packaging it is delivered in, especially if its just a matter of aesthetics. Another thing she mentioned was that with The Ordinary products you will have to do your own research as to how to use the products. You will have to check how it mixes with other ingredients as well. But again, I do not think this is a negative either. I think when you are putting different chemicals on your face, you should do your research. Some products are not safe to use for example when your pregnant! So I do not see that as a major negative. Again, please do your research when buying any products you put on your face and body.

Now, lets talk about the products I purchased. I have one bottle of Hyloraunic Acid and one tube of Vitamin C. If you don't know what Hyaluronic Acid is, it is a skin care ingredient that I believe is essential. It keeps the moisture in your skin, while Vitamin C is an ingredient that brightens up the face along with removing spots and aging effects.

....Aaaand now into how they work, and my thoughts on these ingredients.

Hyaluronic Acid

  • Packaging: Comes in a drop bottle
  • Texture of product: Is a stringy liquid
  • On the skin: Feels slightly sticky while applying to the face
  • After: If absorbed, does not feel sticky or slippery. However if you applied to much and it is not absorbed, it will pill off as you apply your follow up skincare products

Vitamin C

  • Packaging: Comes in a squeeze tube
  • Texture of product: Very small feeling of specs, but you don't feel it after the first few times you use it
  • On the skin: Can feel slightly tingly but only if you have any open skin or cuts in your skin.
  • After: It feels almost silky on the skin. Gives you a very moisturized feeling. Not sticky.

The Results

Im going to get straight to the point here. I have been using both of these products for about 3 months now, which I believe is long enough to see results. I have seen great results from the Vitamin C. I see any dark spots slowly disappearing and it feels great on my skin.

The Hyaluronic Acid on the other hand, I felt like it did not have any significant results. My skin still felt the same. In fact I have started trying another Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer from the drug store (though way more expensive) that has worked better.

So, which one will I be repurchasing? I will 100% repurchase the Vitamin C from The Ordinary.
